The 1st Publicity - The Wedding of Hafiz & Aida, 26th August 2007, Banquet Hall, MBPJ Civic Complex, PJ.

Being blessed with great friends is something that I’m forever thankful for in my life. Today after collecting the cardboard cut out of Ika, Serena C & Pietro, I headed out of 1U towards the Banquet Hall of The Civics Centre, MBPJ with Robert, Elisa’s husband. We were to attend the wedding of our friend, Hadi’s son, Hafiz to the girl of him dream, Aida.

When we got there, things were well under way. I had earlier changed from my normal jeans and shirt to a blouse and a long skirt. To carry the cardboard cut out wearing a long skirt was truly hard. Even though Robert had volunteered to carry it for me, I felt that it’s my duty to do it on my own. My perseverance paid off. Many stopped me along the way to the table as they wanted to find out all about it. With growling stomach (I hope none heard the ugly sound), I explained to them the bond that I have with my three favorite deejays and instead of being ridiculed for being crazy enough to go for such a thing, each and every one of them wished me all the best. Thank you so much.

When I reached the table allocated to the people of Sealantis, the diving centre where all of us are affiliated to, Robert had already dished out the food for me. With much gusto, I attacked the food with new found strength (I told you I was hungry!). Halfway thru, my friend and a dive-master in training, Arsyhad, told me that the lovely newlyweds on stage has agreed to take a couple of shots with me and my cardboard cut out! Without much hesitation, I swallowed whatever food that I was still chewing in my mouth, gulped down the last bit of drink that I still have in my glass, got my 3 buddies and made my way towards the stage. I shook hands with the newlyweds, wished them all the best and after explaining the mechanics of the competition, placed my 3 buddies in between their chairs and myself among the relatives and friends who were taking shots with the couple and got another guy to snap the photos for us. The result was this brilliant shot, unedited to preserve its originality.

To Hadi and family, thank you so much for being so kind to support me in my new quest of winning that RM 50 000. Your support meant a lot to me and the memory of getting my 1st publicity during such a joyous ceremony among my own friends is something that will forever stay in my heart.

Sworn In

The day dawn bright with not a speck of dark cloud tinting the sky. I got up very early with a purpose in mind - to reach 1U by 10am so that I can find a parking space to park my car (today is Sunday and parking spaces in 1U are very limited as shoppers rush in to get their dose of weekend shopping).

I got to Sealantis around 10.30am, log on to the net while patiently waiting for the time for me to make my way to the main entrance of the new wing where Mix and RHB will hold the event.
The congregation of Mix FM supporters at 1Utama
Around 11.15 I made my way over and was greeted by the sight of hopefuls like me queueing up to register their attendance and supporters of MixFm taking part in the ongoing contest hosted by both Lil John & Terence.

After registering, I waited patiently with the rest and was entertained by the hilarious antics of Lil John. I've met Lil John from way back when Eric, Dan and Loraine were still with the Road Runners. We played a few games while waiting for the official launching of the Living With Ika, Serena C & Pietro contest and here are a few of the photos taken of the participants trying their best to win the prizes up for grabs.
We Rock The Hse Ya All
The 1st game was a pretty mild one, 4 couples got to lay down their possessions on the floor to form the longest line possible. The winning jovial couple, gave us a very interesting pose that is truly unique.
Richard & Sham "Gettin' Jiggy Wiggit" with a female contestant
The second game was a naughty one where Lil John asked 4 participants to do a dance move around Mix FM most eligible bachelor, Sham. The 1st participant, a lady was pretty shy but the game got better with every participant as they discard their shyness and venture to perform daring and raunchy moves around Sham.

Shake your bon bon....
The next game was naughtier where Lil John selected 3 guys to perform some poses on stage. Unfortunately the poses turned into seductive dance moves where the winner, RAM, gave us a mix of Bangra and Modern moves that got Serena C up on her feet.
Let's play charade...
The 4th game, saw 4 couples playing charade and it was hilarious to a fault. Someone actually wrote on the cardboard something about Pietro being big and the poor couple who got it had so much difficulty to sign the exact words thus making it even more difficult for his partner to guess.

It's ticklish man....
After that Lil John & Terence got 4 couples to perform their version of "credit card trick" where the lady had to move the credit card along the guys' body from the left hand sleeve to the right and back again. It was funny as the guys were squirming, ticklish about having the credit card touching their upper body part. It was fun to watch and everyone had a good laugh.

All in all, it was nearly 1.15 when the 300 participants were sworn in. Ika was our oath leader and we repeated each and every word that she uttered. 10 of us were chosen to be up on the stage with the announcers and I was one of them. Truly at that point I felt very lucky as I got the chance to win the RM50 000 prize money and in a daze, I was actually trying to formulate my strategy to generate the required publicity.

After the ceremony, I managed to get a few autographs from Pietro, Ika, Serena, Sham, DJ Snipe and even Mesh (The MAN himself). With very light steps (although I had difficulty to carry the life size poster), I made my way back to Sealantis where I was suppose to meet up with Robert (Elisa's hubby) as we have made plans earlier to grace a Malay wedding with our attendance. The blog ends here. Keep a look out for my next entry. Till then have a great time and support the recruits of living with Ika, Serena C and Pietro by taking our photos and uploading them onto the Mix FM website. Thanks guys.
